Description du produit

Peaky Blinders is an epic gangster drama set in the lawless streets of post-war Birmingham on the cusp of the 1920s. Britain in 1919 is a tumultuous mix of despair and hedonism, a nation cleaned out by the extravagances of the Great War. Returning soldiers, newly-minted revolutionaries and criminal gangs all fight for survival in an industrial landscape gripped by economic upheaval. Thomas Shelby and his family run the most feared and powerful local gang, the Peaky Blinders. Named for their practice of sewing razor blades into the peaks of their caps, they make money from illegal betting, protection and the black market. But Tommy’s ambitions go beyond running the streets, and when a crate of guns goes missing from an arms factory, he recognises an opportunity to move up in the world. Crime pays, but business pays better. As rival gangs, Communist revolutionaries and IRA Fenians descend on Small Heath in pursuit of the weapons; Winston Churchill dispatches a ruthless police chief from Belfast to impose order on an increasingly lawless city and recover the guns.     BBC ist bekannt für gute Serien, Peaky Blinders ist ohne Frage eine der besten und in jeder Beziehung TOP! Aus meiner Sicht spielt die Serie in einer Liga mit „Boardwalk Empire“! Der Soundtrack, wie von meinem Vorrezensenten schon beschrieben, macht das Ganze noch darüber hinaus zu einem außergewöhnlichen Genuss!
    Ich kann auch nur jedem empfehlen sich auf den englischen Originalton einzulassen…. einige interessante englische/schottische/irische Dialekte werden zelebriert. (Die Verständlichkeit ist dennoch, nach kurzer Eingewöhnung, zur Not unter Zuhilfenahme der englischen Untertitel, gut!) Nebenbei: Cillian Murphy hat, passend zu dem hier verkörperten Charakter, eine unerwartet sonore maskuline Stimme. Bleibt zu hoffen, dass in einer deutschen Fassung die richtige Synchronstimme ausgewählt wird!

    Telefilm acquistato in versione originale visto il prezzo invitante del blu ray e le critiche molto positive in rete.
    La storia si svolge a Birmingham nel 1919, all'indomani della fine della prima guerra mondiale, e vede una nazione piena di reduci intenti a sfuggire alla povertà post bellica, attraversata dai tumulti del socialismo, minacciata dalla violenza secessionista dell'IRA.
    Su questo ampio sfondo si inserisce l'attività dei Peaky Blinders, un clan criminale così chiamato per l'usanza di inserire una lametta di rasoio sulla tesa dei berretti che diventano in questo modo delle armi con cui accecano gli avversari durante delle risse.
    Scommesse, contrabbando, furti sono le attività del clan dei fratelli Selby, che diventerà un problema di interesse nazionale quando a Birmingham scomparirà un grosso carico d'armi.
    Wiston Churchill, allora ministro degli interni, sarà costretto a inviare l'ispettore Campbell per poter recuperare il carico, da qui inizia un avvincente confronto...
    Storia ben narrata, uno stile classico, sul modello dei grandi romanzi a cavallo tra '800 e 900, scenografie e costumi di livello impressionante, un Sam Neill (Campbell) mai così convincente e un Cillian Murphy, lo "spaventapasseri" dei Batman di Nolan, ad una magnifica prova da protagonista nella parte di Thomas Selby, il capo dei PB. Questi i punti di forza di un grande telefilm che unisce storia e gangster fiction, una violenza molto misurata, e una giusta dose di sentimento.
    Un bel classico che riporta in maniera moderna ai vecchi e insuperati telefilm RAI, quando c'erano ancora attori e registi di alto livello e la narrazione non veniva rovinata da fiumi di retorica.
    Sei episodi di un'ora ciascuno, due blu ray, inglese con sottotitoli, che possono essere un ottimo diversivo per gli amanti di boardwalk empire e che consiglio agli amanti dei telefilm classici quando uscirà l'edizione italiana.

    This is a six part BBC Series about a small time gang that wants to go big. It is set in England right after the end of WWI where all the soldiers that have returned are changed in one way or another. Some have recurring nightmares of what had happened and some have given up on faith and man in general. I got this production because of one actor in particular and that is Cillian Murphy who has never disappointed in his performance in whatever role he plays. The story is between two antagonists. There is Thomas Shelby who has taken over the leadership of the Peaky Blinders which is a gang heavy in numbers and off track betting and is violent. When asked how much he pays for his suits, he replies that he never pays for them because "they" know better. Unfortunately some of his gang members knock off a warehouse and steal 25 machines guns. London isn't concerned about the number of weapons but to whom they will be sold (IRA or Communist factions) so they send in one Inspector Campbell from Belfast who has dealt with the IRA on behalf of the Crown successfully. Inspector Campbell and Thomas Shelby are the two main players in this game. As Inspector Campbell tells Thomas Shelby, "We are identical except opposite - like looking into a mirror." There is some violence and adult language but all very well done. Who wines? Does anybody win? Watch it. It is worth it. Every minute of it.

    I've seen Peaky Blinders referred to as the Boardwalk Empire of England, but that's not a fair comparison. While there's some parallels (a family controlling a gambling organization), there's a different story arc at play. There's only six episodes in the first season, and they are all well produced, acted, and presented. The grimy world of Manchester in the 1920s is evident, as is the social fabric that people were wrapped up in. The production is wonderful, in this respect, if not bleak and depressing to a modern viewer.

    The story moves forward at a good pace, engrossing the viewer and inspiring a "one more episode" mentality when binge watching. There's all the elements of a great drama here, and it was a very enjoyable series to immerse into. I've already ordered Season Two!

    Eine großartige Serie über das organisierte Verbrechen in Birmingham zu Zeiten des ersten Weltkrieges, mit einem überragendem Cillian Murphy.
    Bis ins Detail aufwändig umgesetzt und mit einem bis in die kleinsten Nebenrollen hervorragend besetztem Cast. Besonders erwähnt werden sollte hierbei Sam Neil, der der Rolle des in der Liebe verschmähten Chefinspektor und des rachsüchtigem Gegenspieler der Shelby Familie, eine tiefe abgründige Note verleiht.
    Absolut Sehenswert! Staffel 2 darf kommen.....
